I grew up with Danish roots, where food, creativity, and togetherness were never separate things. I’ve spent time in several different countries and today, I call Texas home. All these places have shaped my cooking just as much as my heritage and Scandi & Hearth lives right at the intersection of these worlds.
I’m not a professional chef. I’m a home cook who finds creativity, comfort, and stress relief in the simple, grounding rituals of cooking, baking, crafting, and making things with my hands. The kitchen is where I slow down, work through ideas, and show care for the people I love. For me, creating, whether it’s a meal, a table setting, or a handmade detail, is both personal and deeply connective.
This blog is a space to share some of the recipes, traditions, and crafts I grew up with, alongside new interpretations of Scandinavian dishes, fusion flavors inspired by life in Texas and travels abroad, and lessons learned from hosting friends around my own table. It’s about honoring tradition while staying curious, playful, and open to evolution.
At the heart of it all is hygge. Not as a trend, but as a way of living and finding warmth in everyday moments. Hygge is what I grew up with, and it can be as simple as a great cup of coffee and a good book, or as meaningful as lingering conversations over a home-cooked dinner with friends. My love language is cooking, baking, and creating for others, and this blog is an invitation to gather, linger, and find comfort in the things made with care.
Welcome and I’m so glad you’re here.
